1. Privacy at a glance
This section gives a short overview of what happens to your personal data when you use TERA Europe Classic+. The sections below explain the details.
We collect data in two ways:
- Directly from you— for example when you register an account or contact us.
- Automatically when you visit— technical usage data such as IP address, browser, operating system, and request time, mainly in server log files.
We use this data to:
- keep the website and game servers available and secure (for example to prevent misuse and spam), and
- provide the features you request, such as game accounts, leaderboards, and support.
We only use technically necessary cookies. No analytics or marketing tracking takes place.
2. Controller and contact
Privacy and data-rights requests can be sent to [email protected]. A Discord account is not required.
3. Legal bases
- Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR— contract and performance (accounts, support requests).
- Art. 6 (1) lit. c GDPR— legal obligations (statutory retention).
- Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR— legitimate interests (IT security, misuse prevention, operating the website and game servers).
4. Server log files
When you visit this website, our systems automatically collect and store information that your browser transmits in server log files:
- browser type and version
- operating system used
- referrer URL
- host name of the accessing computer
- time of the server request
- IP address
This data is not merged with other data sources. Our services run on servers in European data centres.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and functional operation).
5. Accounts and registration
If you create an account, we store the data you enter (such as username, email address, and password in hashed form) and use it exclusively to manage your account and provide the features you request.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR (contract/performance) and Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (IT security, prevention of misuse).
Your data remains stored as long as the account is active. You may have your account deleted at any time; statutory retention periods remain unaffected.
6. Game data and leaderboards
When you play on our servers, gameplay data is generated — for example character names, class, guild, and combat performance in dungeons. We process this data to run the game and to publish rankings on our leaderboards, which show character names (not account names or real names).
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR (providing the game service) and Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in community features). If you want a character removed from the public leaderboards, contact us.
7. Email
If you contact us by email, or if we send you transactional messages (for example account verification or password reset), the data involved is stored for the purpose of handling the request and in case of follow-up questions. We do not share this data without your consent, and we do not send marketing email.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR (processing your request) and Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (efficient handling of inquiries).
9. External platforms
We maintain a community presence on Discord and publish some project material on GitHub. When you use these platforms, the privacy policies of the respective providers apply, and personal data (such as IP address and usage data) may be processed by the platform operators, possibly outside the EU/EEA.
Processing is based on our legitimate interest in communicating with our community (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR). Further information: Discord Privacy Policy and the GitHub Privacy Statement.
10. Data security
We use TLS/SSL encryption, role-based access control, and other technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including regular backups and access restricted to authorized persons. Nevertheless, data transmission over the Internet (for example by email) may have security gaps; complete protection against access by third parties is not possible.
11. Storage period
We process and store personal data only as long as necessary for the respective purpose. Where statutory retention or limitation periods apply, data is deleted or anonymized once they expire.
12. Your rights
- Access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), and data portability (Art. 20).
- Objection to processing based on Art. 6 (1) lit. e or f GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR).
- Withdrawal of consent (Art. 7 (3) GDPR) with effect for the future.
- The right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority responsible for your place of residence.
13. Protection of minors
Our services are not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect or process personal data of children. If we become aware that data has been collected without the necessary parental consent, we will delete it immediately.
14. Changes to this policy
We may amend this privacy policy so that it always complies with current legal requirements and reflects changes to our services. The current version applies to your subsequent visits. We will announce material changes that affect your rights or the purposes of processing on the website.
